Shirt Design by Caden Lane

Caden Lane is an Indigenous man who grew up within the Durham Region and is a proud member of Mikisew Cree First Nation. Throughout his journey on Mother Earth, Caden has developed a passion for expressing himself in the arts. Caden’s outstanding talent allows him to connect with others by demonstrating his authentic self in the pieces he creates. Caden leads with respect for the diversity of Indigenous peoples within the Durham Region and provides this piece to honour the survivors of residential schools from not only these lands but all of Turtle Island.

Caden is travelling across Turtle Island to connect with his authentic teachings from Mikisew First Nation, feel the land of his ancestors under his feet and pursue his post-secondary endeavours.

The image is an expression of one’s historical self, from liberation to recognition of one’s past and the cultural teachings that brought them closer and fueled them to understand themselves more, to the paths and flame that is our spiritual growth into our own actualization.
